Longterm Storage.

A raid alone is not a backup. Hard disks can also suddenly show defects due to long storage and non-use. Data degradation, corrupt raw data and defective data media are the result. Whether shooting data or master files - we keep your film data safe and manage it for you.

We recommend that you back up your data on three different storage media and store them in three geographically separate locations. This way we protect your data from natural hazards such as fire and floods and other possible dangers.

Archive Server

Our server, optimised for archiving raw data, is located at the camera factory and is usually the first stop for your data. A rigorous maintenance schedule guarantees the availability of your data at all times and regular pool scrubs check for any data degradation which, if necessary, is immediately repaired using a parity block. With the Zettabyte File System (ZFS) we can also offer effective protection against crypto-lockers. These are just a few of the many things you don't have to worry about yourself.

Archive Hard Discs

Our archive hard drives are securely stored away from the internet in an external warehouse. This provides additional protection against cyber-attacks. When the longterm-storage subscription is cancelled, the hard disks can be purchased as needed. Only a Sata adapter is needed to read and write the hard drives.

LTO

LTO are magnetic tapes whose shelf life is easily up to 30 years under proper storage. Our LTO storage is in a secure location outside the camera factory. The tapes can be purchased with the cancellation of longterm-storage subscriptions. The LTO tapes are LTFS formatted. This means that only an LTO drive and no special software is required to write and read the LTO tapes.
